Philip Johnson

Jacksonville High School
Math Teacher
Using his background in Mathematics and Art, Phil doesn't just do math... he dreams it into life and bottles it up at the front of a classroom. Winner of the "Bill Russell Award for Excellence in Education," Phil has taught exclusively at Jacksonville High School since his 2013 collegiate graduation from Illinois Wesleyan University. During that time, Philip has taught Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Statistics; in addition to coaching Cross Country, Girls Track, and Freshman Boys' Basketball.

Each class period, Phil manages to deliver mesmerizing tales of numerical peril, shameful dad-level puns, off the wall mathematical analogies, and usually a little bit of knowledge. Known as a man who once lit a fire with two toothpicks, bowls overhand, and killed two stones with one bird, he only spends 700% of his time exaggerating.
